Hi, I’m Julius Manton-Jones, I am based at Bedfont and currently working on the client site of a major oil company. I am in the Transformation and Operations part of Global Business Services. I became a Finance and Accounting Apprentice studying CIMA alongside my apprenticeship in September this year, however I have been with IBM just over 2 years as I was on the futures school leavers scheme beforehand.

This scheme offers me the ability to work within many of the different global IBM accounts within a Finance Management role. I started off working on my current account in the Commercial Finance team which has given me a wealth of experience and understanding about the operations of such a large account.

I have found this deep immersion really exciting and It has certainly augmented my people and communication skills as I continue to manage multiple resources in other countries. I have learnt the importance of the different communication styles and their effectiveness across cultures. I had the responsibility of managing the Forecasting/Billing/Invoicing & KPI Reporting on a large amount of revenue each month, so having responsibility to contribute to the business and deliver is something that really drives and motivates me.

I have recently moved on to become a Contracting Lead which is a new challenge and gives me the opportunity to use my knowledge from my previous role to improve and innovate our current processes to help both our back office and client facing teams.

My Professional Accountancy Apprenticeship (with bpp Learning) will give me industry recognised qualifications from CIMA (Chartered Institute for Management Accountants) along with a widely recognised level 4 apprenticeship, with the possibility to continue it even further and do a level 7.

I had originally intended on doing a one year Futures Scheme placement and then continuing on to university to study Business Management. After I enjoyed my year at IBM so much and found that the skills, behaviours and knowledge I had obtained were considerable, alongside the current competitive climate of business and with the ever rising need for applicable skills, I decided that this course offers the valuable and well sought after experience, backed by the theory and qualifications that one needs to excel in the workplace.

Boasting a full time salary on top of this made the scheme an incredible opportunity and am very excited to continue into 2018!
